German-American soprano, Sandra Villwock, is praised for her “rich lyric timbre,” and emotive portrayals of the characters she embodies. She attained her Bachelor and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Southern California and currently lives in Austin, TX. 

 

She has travelled internationally performing concert and operatic repertoire with companies including: Austin Opera, Opera San Antonio, Opera Classica Europa, One Ounce Opera, Bologna International Opera Academy, L’Opera Piccola, Pacific Lyric Opera, Lyric Opera of Orange County, Chorus Austin, USC Thornton University Chorus, and UCLA Chorale.

 

Recent notable roles have included Gilda (Rigoletto - Verdi), Musetta (La boheme - Puccini), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia - Rossini), and Juliette (Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette). In March of 2024, she premiered the role of Calista in Ray Bradbury, Age 12, at the Carnival in Waukegan, IL, one of three winning micro-operas for One Ounce Opera's FSOO 2025, by composer and librettist, Tyler Mabry.  She will revisit the role of Musetta in June 2025 in Versailles, France. In July 2025, she will debut the role of Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni with Opera Classica Europa in Bad Schwalbach, Germany. 

 

Sandra has performed as the soprano soloist in various oratorio works, including Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass.

 

Sandra is an accomplished classical pianist having studied under the esteemed Dr. Irina Bendetsky. She is well versed in a wide range of classical piano repertoire, bringing both technical precision and expressive depth to her playing. Based in the Austin area, Sandra shares her expertise by teaching piano and voice to students of all levels from her home studio, fostering a strong foundation in musicianship and a deep appreciation for the art.
